I was today years old when I discovered Windows Media Player on Windows CE plays MP2 audio streams at reduced quality. For 44100 Hz, the output is 11025 Hz, and for 48000 Hz, the output is 12000 Hz. In all cases, the bit depth is reduced to 8, and the number of channels is the same as the original stream.
